Two ways across the lake
The Causeway (Mandeville, Covington, Madisonville, Abita Springs)
The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is the most direct route from western St. Tammany. Directions from Mandeville and Covington. The bridge lands on Causeway Boulevard in Metairie, the same road as our clinic at 3445 N Causeway Blvd. The Causeway collects a toll on the southbound trip.
The Twin Span (Slidell, Lacombe, Pearl River)
From eastern St. Tammany, take I-10 West across the Twin Span bridges, continue through New Orleans East, and exit at Causeway Blvd. There is no toll on the Twin Span. Directions from Slidell.

Planning your visit from The Northshore
The Northshore splits naturally into two driving routes. If you live in western or central St. Tammany Parish, such as Mandeville, Covington, Madisonville, or Abita Springs, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is your road. It lands in Metairie a few miles north of the clinic, and the toll is collected southbound only, so the drive home is free. Our Mandeville page has more on that corridor.
From the eastern side, including Slidell, Lacombe, and Pearl River, I-10 West across the Twin Span is usually the better route. It has no toll and runs through New Orleans East before reaching Metairie. Whichever way you cross the lake, the southbound morning rush and fog over the water are the two things most likely to slow you down, so a late-morning appointment is often the calmest choice.

Northshore questions
How long is the drive from The Northshore?
It depends on where you start and on traffic. From Mandeville, Covington, and Madisonville, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway runs about 24 miles across the lake and lands on Causeway Boulevard in Metairie, the same road as our clinic. From Slidell, most patients take I-10 West across the Twin Span.
Is there a toll?
The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway collects a toll on the southbound trip into Metairie. There is no toll on the I-10 Twin Span.
Do you have a Northshore office?
No. All in-person visits take place at our one clinic, 3445 N Causeway Blvd Ste 900, Metairie, LA 70002. Free on-site parking is available, and the clinic is in Suite 900 on the 9th floor.
Is my first visit free?

Do you offer GLP-1 weight loss for Northshore patients?
Yes. Northshore patients visit our Metairie clinic for physician-supervised GLP-1 weight loss, including semaglutide and tirzepatide when clinically appropriate. Every evaluation and follow-up visit is in person.
Is the Causeway or the Twin Span better from where I live?
As a rule of thumb, take the Causeway from Mandeville, Covington, Madisonville, and Abita Springs, and the Twin Span from Slidell, Lacombe, and Pearl River. If you live in between, check live traffic; the Causeway has a southbound toll and the Twin Span is free.
What happens if the Causeway is slowed by fog?
In heavy fog, traffic on the Causeway can be run in escorted convoys, which adds time. If the forecast looks foggy, leave early or call (504) 717-7775 to move your appointment.
