Introduction: a different approach to ED treatment
Malik Mingo: Welcome back, friends. We’re going to switch gears for a moment and talk about something completely different. When it comes to erectile dysfunction treatment, our next guests say they take a different approach because treatment is not a one-size-fits-all. Let’s find out more about their approach. Joining me now from Aspire Health and Wellness, partners and co-founders Adam Muller and Sonny Demelo. Welcome to the show, gentlemen.
Aspire: Good morning.
Malik Mingo: And listen, this is a conversation we need to have.
Potential causes of erectile dysfunction
Malik Mingo: I want to start with you, my good Sonny. Everybody knows about erectile dysfunction, what happens, right? But I feel like a lot of people don’t understand what the cause is when it comes to erectile dysfunction. Why are so many men, unfortunately, getting it?
Aspire: For most guys, especially the patients we deal with, blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, prostate enlarged or removed, blood flow issues, it all comes into account. Even if it becomes mental at that point, once you notice you’re not getting erections normally, you’re not going to be able to, whether it’s mental or because of health reasons.
What ages are affected by ED?
Malik Mingo: And what’s the typical age that you all see over at Aspire who have this condition?
Aspire: On average, it’s over 50, or mid-40s and up. But we do see patients in their 20s, 30s, 40s as well. So yeah, we can still help everybody.
Malik Mingo: Absolutely.
Aspire: Because again, like I mentioned, it’s not a one-size-fits-all.
What makes Aspire’s approach different
Malik Mingo: And you know, we’ve seen the commercials, we’ve seen the social media ads talking about this condition, right? And you all say, Adam, your approach is different. How is it different? When we go to Aspire, what does it look like?
Aspire: So it looks like, come in for a cup of coffee, have a conversation. Okay, let’s have some real talk about what you’ve been dealing with. You know, we know that men in our community, which we’re a part of, I’m from the Northshore, Sonny’s here on the Southshore, this may not be something that you’re comfortable sharing with just anyone, but this is something that many men struggle with, and they don’t need to struggle alone. We’re here to lend an ear, have that cup of coffee, and discuss what options are there and give you hope.
Treatment options and consultations
Malik Mingo: And I think that’s great because, again, when you meet people where they are, it helps them open up a little more to talk about something that may be embarrassing for them. And then after you have that cup of coffee and you have that initial conversation, what are some of the different treatment options? Is it, what, a pill? Is it another option?
Aspire: Yeah, so we have 300 different ways of formulating medication.
Malik Mingo: 300?
Aspire: The biggest thing is we need to find what’s wrong with you. So most places, you know, everybody’s taking Viagra, Cialis, BlueChew, Ro. We find out that it’s not working because what’s causing the ED? The whole point of our consultation is to figure out what’s wrong and treat ED based on what your symptoms are caused by.
Discussion of patient outcomes
Malik Mingo: Which I think is so amazing. Wow. 300 options. So that means there is a solution for you. And your success rate, Adam, I was looking it up. Pretty good.
Aspire: It’s pretty good.
Malik Mingo: What do you attribute that to?
Aspire: The fact that we’ve got, you know, a clinical director who’s been in this sector, who’s an expert, our medical director and our team, you know, our team is incredible. They’re not trying to treat the symptoms. They’re trying to understand the person and get to the root cause. So, you know, that personal touch and the time taken to figure out, you know, the total picture for every man is what makes the difference.
Managing erectile dysfunction
Malik Mingo: Which I think is so powerful. When you look it up, 98% success rate. But we got to mention, Sonny, look, there is no cure currently for erectile dysfunction. So is it more of a condition where with the right approach, it’s a manageable condition?
Aspire: Yeah, I mean, not just manageable. The reason why I say there’s no cure is because health issues happen. You know, God forbid something bad happens, ED can come back. But we’re seeing results in clinic where we’re having guys who haven’t been intimate in 10 years are able to start being intimate again. And not just that, getting improvements to where they’re able to achieve an erection without medication.
Talking about sexual health
Malik Mingo: It’s so important that we have a conversation like this because we were talking during the commercial break. This is like the male version of menopause, right? It’s something that people are going to go through, so why not have a conversation about it to understand that there are treatment options out there, so you can continue to have a good time with your loved one. You know what I’m saying?
Seeking help
Malik Mingo: What is your message, though, Adam, as one of the founders, as one of the partners of this organization, to men out there who may be uncomfortable with going to someplace like Aspire because they don’t want to admit they’re suffering from ED?
Aspire: Sure. So a lot of men think that, wow, is this my life now? And we’re here to let you know that there’s hope with that conversation and that face-to-face, that time where, you know, there’s no judgment. This is something that we specialize in. You know, this is everyday conversation for us. So there’s nothing to be ashamed of, embarrassed about. So many men are struggling with this and think that there’s no hope. But that’s where Aspire’s different. We’re local. Our mission is to support the men in our local community, Greater New Orleans area and the Northshore, and show you that there is hope and we can help.
Contacting Aspire
Malik Mingo: I appreciate you all coming on to talk about this because we talk about everything on this show. Okay, gentlemen, thank you for all that you all are doing.
